Ticket FAQs
Reserving tickets
Ticket information
Do I have to reserve tickets in advance?
We recommend reserving tickets to avoid disappointment, but we often also have some tickets available to buy on the evening of the performance. The box office opens 45 minutes before the performance commences.
You can check to see whether we still have any tickets left on the ticket page for the current production.
How many tickets can I reserve for a performance?
You can reserve up to 6 tickets for a single performance with one myEDS account. If you need more than this number, please either ask other people in your party to reserve their own tickets or submit a group booking request.
Please be considerate to others and only reserve the number of tickets you actually need and always cancel any that you do not.
Can I choose my seat?
All EDS productions have free seating, so there is no possibility to reserve a specific seat.
How do I reserve reduced price tickets?
Students, school pupils, registered disabled and one accompanying person, and those currently participating in a voluntary year of social service (FSJ) are eligible to purchase reduced price tickets.
You can select the type of tickets you need when you make your reservation. When you collect the tickets you will be asked to show proof that you are entitled to reduced price tickets (e.g. a student ID card). Please note that we will ask to see one document for each ticket you are collecting.
How to I change or cancel a reservation?
You can cancel your reservation in your myEDS account.
If you need to reschedule your reservation (same number of tickets) for a different date, you can do this in in your myEDS account.
If you need to add tickets to your reservation: please place a new order via the website for the additional ticket(s).*
If you need fewer tickets than you have reserved, please let us know by replying to your confirmation email or via the contact form.
It is not necessary to inform us if you need to change the type of tickets you need (standard prioce / reduced price). This can be done when you collect your tickets.
*Please note: You can order up to 6 tickets for any one performance with your myEDS account.
Are there any discounts for groups?
As we are entirely non-profit-making, and need to finance future productions from ticket sales, we are unfortunately unable to offer any discounts on our regular prices for group bookings.
Collecting and paying for tickets
Ticket information
How do I collect and pay for my tickets?
Tickets can be collected and paid for at the box office at the performance location from 45 minutes before the performance commences. Reserved tickets must be collected at least 20 minutes before the performance as in the event of a sold-out performance they may be resold after that time. Please note that we are only able to accept payment in cash.
Do I need to show my order confirmation when I collect my tickets?
It helps us to find your reservation quicker if you can tell usy our order number, but we don’t need to see the confirmation. If you don’t have the confirmation number, we can also find the reservation with the name of the person the tickets are reserved for.
Usually you will pay for your tickets when you collect them, but if somebody else has already paid for your tickets, we will ask you to show an identity document when you collect them.
What happens if I do not collect my tickets on time?
Reserved tickets are only guaranteed until 20 minutes before the performance starts. If the performance is not sold out, you will of course still be able to collect your tickets after this time, but if it is sold out and we do not know you are definitely coming, your tickets may be sold to somebody else.
We recommend arriving at least half an hour before the performance starts.
Can I pay for my tickets in advance?
At this time we are unable to sell tickets in advance. It is only possible to reserve tickets for collection and payment on the evening of the performance.
Can I pay for my tickets with a credit or debit card?
Unfortunately we are unable to accept credit and debit cards at the box office so tickets can only be paid for in cash.
What proof of entitlement do I need to show for reduced price tickets?
Yes, we will ask to see proof of status for reduced price tickets. If you are collecting reduced price tickets for another person, please also remember to bring their proof of status. We accept the following:
- For students: university-issued student ID card, ISIC card, or an immatriculation confirmation document together with valid photo ID
- For school pupils: school-issued pupil ID card, ID card or passport showing that you are under 18, or other official document that shows you are currently attending school together with valid photo ID
- For registered disabled persons*: Disability identity pass (Schwerbehindertenausweis)
- For voluntary social year (FSJ) participants: FSJ volunteer ID card
*One person accompanying the registered disabled person is also entitled to a reduced price ticket.
I reserved tickets for a group. Can these be collected individually?
Yes, the tickets can be collected and paid for individually, although we do prefer them to be collected together if possible.
Please note: if one person pays for all the tickets but would like the members of the group to collect them themselves, we will need their names and will also ask to see appropriate identification from each person before their tickets can be collected.
You can optionally enter individual names when you reserve tickets.
Can I return tickets I have already collected and paid for?
Tickets that have already been collected and paid for are non-refundable. However, they may be returned subject to the following conditions:
- the performance is sold out
- we are able to resell your ticket
In such cases we will refund the full value of the returned ticket. If we are unable to resell your ticket, we will unfortunately not be able to offer you a refund, however, we would be pleased to exchange it for a ticket for another performance of the same production if this is possible.
